XSF vs ACS
ACS (Advanced Combat System) 2.0.1 is the gun kit a lot of Roblox shooters started with. XSF uses the same public ACS models, attachments and animations, but the code underneath is new. This is what changes when you move a game from ACS to XSF.
| ACS 2.0.1 | XSF 2.1 | |
|---|---|---|
| Setting up a game | Edit settings modules in Studio | A no code website dashboard with presets per game, or GameConfig in Studio. Studio changes always win. |
| First person arms | Blocky R6 box arms with a shirt | Skinned arms with a full hand skeleton. Fingers close around each gun, knives sit in a fist, sleeves match the player's shirt. |
| Bullets | Projectiles | Projectiles with drop, wall penetration by material and ricochets, simulated again on the server with lag compensation. |
| Recoil | Per gun recoil values | Learnable recoil patterns per gun, a live tuning panel in Studio (F4) and a recoil multiplier on the dashboard. |
| Gun movement | Gun follows the camera | Bodycam style free aim, weapon inertia and sway driven by springs, so it feels the same at 60 and 240 fps. |
| Weapons included | The ACS sample weapons | 59 weapons: rifles, machine guns, SMGs, snipers, shotguns, pistols, knives, grenades, launchers and explosives. |
| Inventory | Roblox tools | A hotbar with a drag and drop backpack, or Roblox tools if you prefer. |
| Attachments | Fixed per gun | A loadout screen with sights, muzzles, grips, lights and four ammo types, checked by the server and saved per player. |
| Getting shot | Its own medical system | Downed state, revive, dragging and bleed out, with armour and helmet attributes and damage by body part. |
| Explosives | Grenades | Frag, smoke and flash grenades plus an RPG-7, an M320, C4 and claymores, with blast damage that checks for cover. |
| Pickups | Drop and pick up guns with their attachments and ammo. Scripts can spawn guns and ammo boxes for loot. | |
| Skins and unlocks | 108 skins in five rarities, and an unlock system for shops, crates, gamepasses and leveling. | |
| Movement | Walk, sprint, crouch, prone, lean | All of that plus sliding, vaulting and climbing onto ledges, with stamina. |
| Long range | Sight zeroing on snipers and DMRs, night vision and thermal scopes. | |
| Testing | A one key self test that fires, reloads and inspects every weapon, and a test map. | |
| Bringing your guns over | The included ACS importer converts an ACS gun's animations into an XSF weapon. |
Who should switch
If your game uses ACS and you want it to feel heavier and more modern without rewriting it, XSF is the quickest way there: import your guns, set your rules on the dashboard and keep building your game. If you are starting a new shooter, XSF gives you a complete first person setup in about three minutes. See Install and Importing ACS guns.
Questions
Can I use my ACS guns in XSF?
Yes. Put the gun model in XSF.Assets.GunModels and run the ACS importer from the optional XSF_Tools folder. It creates an XSF weapon with the animations and a starting Config.
Is XSF free like ACS?
Yes. XSF is free, including in games that earn Robux. You download it from your free XSF account.
Can I run ACS and XSF together?
No. Two gun systems would both try to control the camera and the character. Remove the ACS scripts when you install XSF.
